Melissa Workman

Administrative Assistant

Melissa was born and raised in what used to be the small town of Franklin, Tennessee. She enjoyed a typical southern childhood complete with owning her own cow and pony. Her family spent weekends going to church and visiting with extended family. Many influential adults, including her mother and grandfather, together with the teachings of her church, provided her with a solid Biblical foundation. In August of 1983, on a youth group trip to New York and New Jersey, she followed the prompting of the Holy Spirit, gave Jesus her heart and was baptized. Through her teen years, she remained active in her church, attending and volunteering at Sunday school, VBS, summer camps, and youth group events. After spending her early 20’s not following the Lord as best she could, she began praying for God to lead her to her perfect mate. God provided in an amazing way, giving Melissa not only a best friend and soul mate, but a man who would lead their home and support Melissa emotionally and most importantly – spiritually. Melissa met Ryan in August, 1995, and married in June, 1996. They began attending Ryan’s home church where Melissa quickly re-learned how spiritually filling a church home is. They began attending Thompson Station Church in Thompsons Station, Tennessee. They became very active in the church right away and Melissa joined the choir. After serving in volunteer positions for several years and developing a love for serving others, Melissa accepted a position on staff as the Children’s and Missions Ministry Assistant. Melissa has a huge heart for 1st-6th graders, music, and serving on mission teams. In every aspect of her position, God allowed her to grow in maturity and in faith. In October of 2009, Ryan and Melissa faced a difficult challenge – Ryan’s job was eliminated due to the economic decline. They relied heavily on the Lord at this time and they were completely astounded by his goodness and provision! After several months, Ryan was offered a new position but it meant moving to Jackson. Devastated to leave her ministry position, Melissa wrestled with God on the decision to move, but ultimately was obedient to God’s calling. Looking back, Melissa knows that each step taken during that “storm of life” was God-ordered and beautifully orchestrated. Before they moved, Melissa began praying for a ministry opportunity in Jackson. While looking for a new church home in Jackson and after visiting what seemed like every church in the area code, TJ and Melanie Gilliam invited their family to Fellowship Bible Church. From the moment they walked in the door, they knew that once again, God had provided a church home for them. Melissa joined the church staff in November 2011, as the Administrative Assistant. Melissa is thankful to God her allowing her to serve on such a tremendous team! Melissa and Ryan have 2 children, Kendall and Reid. Melissa enjoys reading, the beach, NASCAR, college football, serving in missions, singing, hanging out with kids (of all ages), karaoke, Diet Coke, and cupcakes.
