FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES

Fellowship is proud to support Fellowship of Christian Athletes; since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ. To learn more about FCA, visit their website: fca.org.

YOUNG LIFE

Young Life doesn’t start with a program. It starts with adults concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don’t happen overnight — they take time, patience, trust and consistency. Young Life is active in various high schools and middle schools in the area and Fellowship is excited to partner with such a caring ministry. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Habitat for Humanity believes that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. We here at Fellowship have partnered with Habitat for Humanity in Jackson; we build and repair houses all over the community and have taken the lead in framing 23 houses. Habitat’s partner families purchase these houses through no-profit, no-interest mortgage loans or innovative financing methods. Your work, combined with the work of fellow believers, can help eliminate sub-standard housing in our community. To learn how to participate, email Randy Pierson at rpierson@fellowshipjackson.com.

TEAM READ

ARISE2Read Jackson, a church/school partnership program for Jackson-Madison County schools, is recruiting volunteers for Team Read. Invest one hour a week to help a 2nd grader learn the foundational words of reading. No tutoring experience is necessary; a 45-minute training session is required. Team Read is effective: last year, with the help of 525 volunteers, students increased sight word recognition 103 percent; more significantly, however, students who were coached twice a week increased 291 percent! Our church is supporting this ministry, and we need you.
